Refinished Rifle; before and after
This was a pretty nice rifle to start with, but it did have a bit of extra wood on it, a non functional patchbox, odd sights, and some other things that needed attention. I refinished the stock after stripping it down, making some mods to the carvings, removing excess wood, etc. The patchbox can now be opened with a push button on the buttplate. The rear sight was reworked and the front replaced. It needed a new touch hole liner, fly in the lock was missing, sear spring replaced, trigger reworked, and fiberglass ramrod replaced with a hickory one. The metal parts where all darkened up some. Some screws where replaced and pins shortened. The breech end of the barrel channel was glass bedded to take care of some gaps and a weak spot in the stock.
