In The Works
You will have to excuse the mess. Having just finished up repairs and modifications to 4 guns I move on to this project. It is a bamboo backed hickory reflex deflex longbow. It's coming along but still needs a lot of wood removal and tillering. I have a fowler bag in the works as well. I will try to keep you all posted.

Refinished Rifle; before and after
This was a pretty nice rifle to start with, but it did have a bit of extra wood on it, a non functional patchbox, odd sights, and some other things that needed attention. I refinished the stock after stripping it down, making some mods to the carvings, removing excess wood, etc. The patchbox can now be opened with a push button on the buttplate. The rear sight was reworked and the front replaced. It needed a new touch hole liner, fly in the lock was missing, sear spring replaced, trigger reworked, and fiberglass ramrod replaced with a hickory one. The metal parts where all darkened up some. Some screws where replaced and pins shortened. The breech end of the barrel channel was glass bedded to take care of some gaps and a weak spot in the stock.

Rifleman's Knife
This knife has an 8 1/2" blade forged from 1084 steel. I made the guard from a thick piece of brass. The handle is whitetail antler with the tang running all the way through the steel pommel. The sheath is vegetable tanned leather with some rustic tooling, a dark brown dye, and has been burnished over.

Edward Marshall Rifle
This is my take on the Marshall rifle, not an exact copy. It has a 54 caliber, c weight, Early transitional style Rice barrel. The lock was made by Danny Caywood. Reeves Goering brass mounts, with a sterling silver overlay on the triggerguard. The curly maple stock has been relief carved. I modified the Davis double set triggers, and made the patchbox, ramrod pipes, ramrod tip, sideplate, and barrel lugs. Time to shoot!!
