Plain Jane

The goal here was a plain rifle. I would refer to this as a Pennsylvania Mountain rifle. It has iron Lancaster mounts. The barrel is a 42" 50 caliber Green Mountain barrel(straight octagon). The lock is a Chamber's deluxe large Siler. Davis double set triggers where reshaped a bit. The silver wrist inlay has initials "GB" engraved in with a dotted line around the edge. The stock is maple with some curl. I'm not sure if the lighter color spots on the cheek piece side of the butt stock are growth rings or what, but they came out lighter and would not absorb the stain the way the rest of the stock did. This scraped finish gives the stock a good early appearance as does the aging done on all of the metal parts.
