Horn container

This turned horn container is 2 1/8" at the base and is 3 5/8" high to the top of the lid. The lid and base are curly maple. I was planning to do some scrimshaw but thought the horn had enough character to it.

Plain Jane

The goal here was a plain rifle. I would refer to this as a Pennsylvania Mountain rifle. It has iron Lancaster mounts. The barrel is a 42" 50 caliber Green Mountain barrel(straight octagon). The lock is a Chamber's deluxe large Siler. Davis double set triggers where reshaped a bit. The silver wrist inlay has initials "GB" engraved in with a dotted line around the edge. The stock is maple with some curl. I'm not sure if the lighter color spots on the cheek piece side of the butt stock are growth rings or what, but they came out lighter and would not absorb the stain the way the rest of the stock did. This scraped finish gives the stock a good early appearance as does the aging done on all of the metal parts.

Bark Tanned Hunting Bag

This bag is made with a heavy bark tanned deer hide and hand sewn with linen thread. The linen sash/strap was hand woven by John Hardy. The patch knife was made by Hershel House(sheath I made with veg.tan). Some forming still needs to be done to hold shape.

Lancaster Smoothbore

This "smoothrifle" has a 48" ,54 caliber, octagon to round barrel by Larry Horrigan. The left handed lock is a Chamber's large Siler. The butt plate and trigger guard are from Reeves Goering . The curly maple stock was shaped down from a plank. There is a 1/4" cast off and a 14 1/2" length of pull.  Wood and metal has an aged finish. This has yet to be fired and sighted in: the front sight will most likely be lowered

Neck or bag knife

This knife is about 7" overall, with a 3 5/8" cutting edge. The blade was forged from 1084, handle is curly maple with brass pins, the sheath is vegetable tanned cow hide died dark and sewn with linen thread

Pathch Knife

Now that the sub zero temperatures have passed I finally got some forge work done. This knife has a ball starter on the back of the handle, pewter bolster, brass pin(peened over), and a blade forged from an old file. The sheath still needs to be made up.

Verner Rifle

This is a A.Verner or Bucks county style rifle I just wrapped up. It has a 44" 50 caliber A weight Colerain barrel, a L&R flintlock, curly maple stock, and brass mounts. Incised carving a bit simpler than some of the originals but true to the style. Time to shoot!
